Premiering at ILY2 Portland, OR — November 8, 2025
Opening at ILY2, New York City — November 14, 2025
Artist Curated Projects is pleased to present one thing., a new ongoing series that begins, as many ACP projects do, with a simple gesture — an artist, an artwork, and a space to meet.
Since 2008, Artist Curated Projects (ACP), founded by Eve Fowler, has created a space for artists to champion one another, to take turns curating, to invite and be invited, to make room. Born from friendship and from the desire to expand the art world’s narrow gates, ACP has always been an experiment in what artists can build for themselves and for each other. Exhibitions began in Fowler’s living room in Los Angeles and have since unfolded across homes, studios, libraries, and galleries — each show forming part of an ongoing conversation between artists, communities, and ways of seeing.
With one thing., ACP distills that long history of collaboration into its most essential form: one artist, one artwork, one shared moment. The project opens with Rachelle Sawatsky, an artist whose practice moves between painting, drawing, and writing, where language slips into image and tenderness is a kind of structure. Their work often reaches toward a personal mythology — animals, celestial bodies, words that hover between sense and song — all rendered in a hand that feels both searching and sure.
In Portland and New York, one thing. will introduce Sawatsky’s work to new audiences, each presentation offering a point of contact — an intimate encounter rather than an exhibition. By partnering with galleries like ILY2, ACP extends its ethos of artist-to-artist support into new contexts, creating bridges between artists and gallerists, between local and distant communities.
As always, ACP’s projects are modest in scale but expansive in spirit. one thing. is a reminder that sometimes, the smallest offering — a single artwork, a single gesture — can hold an entire world.

Rachelle Sawatsky (b. 1983 Richmond, British Columbia, Canada) is an artist and writer based in Los Angeles, United States and Vancouver, Canada. Her practice encompasses painting, ceramics, drawing, and critical and creative writing. She teaches at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
Founded in 2008, Artist Curated Projects is an essential space in which artists make their own rules, build their own networks, and see their work supported outside the commercial or institutional mainstream. Fowler’s vision of “artists curating for artists” continues to guide the project, maintaining the lineage of rebellion, subversion, and experimentality. In an era when counter-cultural spaces are consumed by the blue-chip industrial complex, ACP’s stance is ever more vital.
ILY2 is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to supporting emerging, mid-career, and historically underrepresented voices. With a distinct feminist focus and a community-oriented ethos, the gallery is committed to championing work that is intellectually rigorous, aesthetically compelling, and joyfully experimental.
