Father Fannie's work focuses on the dynamic aspects of QTIBIPOC power, sadness and joy. Fannie likes to use his mediums to grasp onto moments of pure vulnerability in his beautifully diverse magickal community. He uses a variety of mediums such as sound, textiles, plants, film, epoxy, paint and curation to access, capture, and celebrate moments that are often difficult to articulate verbally. Fannie has found that it is often extremely difficult for us to access or express joy; so he has invested a lot of his creative energy and focus into highlighting those often fleeting moments of happiness. As an artist that has faced many momentous traumas as well as universal gifts, Fannie wants to save and glorify every moment that speaks to him. The way he chooses to juxtapose strength & toughness with vulnerability & softness is a recurring theme in his work. It is important to Fannie for his work to encompass and place emphasis on the queer/fluid identity and how sometimes just existing in our bodies is self care.
