Kye Grant is a performance artist and producer whose work takes shape as collaborative social experiences and participatory public events that deepen our relationships to place and to one another. This is currently manifested as CLUB ALIVE, a genre-fluid, queer trans performance party that brings together DJs, performers, musical acts, dancers, interactive group experiments, dramatic entrances, live interviews, and bizarro house band Special Permission for an experimental talk show-slash-rave.

Kye is obsessed with Lloyd Center Mall and has been making unsolicited artwork there since moving to Portland in 2022, including Planet Lloyd, a free newspaper about our city’s precarious third space; open-invitation dance ensemble Public Acts of Dance Company, which performed in front of Lloyd’s vacant retail spaces throughout 2023; and a 40-person guided mall walk that challenged the mall’s buzzkilling policy on balloons.

For their residency inside ILY2 Too, Kye is turning CLUB ALIVE the party into CLUB ALIVE the place, a multi-pronged community art hub and creative laboratory housing CLUB ALIVE TV (three monthly parties filmed for public access television), Planet Lloyd Newspaper Headquarters, People’s History of Lloyd Center Mall (a community sourced group exhibition, all are welcome to contribute), Only Child Club (a support group for grown up only children), and a micro department store featuring books and a reading room by Bottom Feeders Book Collective and clothing by Rowan Willow. Additionally, the space will be open for artist coworking, workshops, events, and meeting space. Inquire within.
